UMPIRES' CLINIC -MAY 28TH AT NETBALL STADIUM

Hello Umpires:



The second event, this time a practical clinic for all practicing umpires will be held at the netball stadium on Thursday, May 28, starting at 6.00pm -8.30 pm.



This clinic will be used for umpires to critique and demonstrate the rules which they are having particular difficulty with while executing their duties during the present season. Pointers will also be given on basic umpiring techniques.



You should therefore be dressed for a practical umpires session..e.g. soft shoes, track pants or netball skirt, whistle, rule book.



The session will be conducted by Mrs... Deborah Lynch Theobalds , in conjunction with some senior umpires.



Any first timers who desire may come along for the experience, but at this session, the umpires who are officiating in the 2009 season will be the prime participants.

Good news for this vibrant sport of netball. maybe if we can get in played competitively in Argentina, Venuezuela , and the other latin American countries we can get netball into the CAC games etc.

Lets go for it.

Time to get on bandwagon and move forward

Netballers and Fans:

As you must be aware by now..things are not going alright in the adminstration of the sport of netball .

Some mistakes have been made, two members of the Board have resigned, Teams have been turning up to play and are unable to do so, either because of lack of umpires or court officials, and there is general disaffection with the 2008 league season.
The senior national program has started belated and some questions are also being asked of this program with respect to planning.

Now...the question is...what are we going to do about it..

The first step towards a solution is a proposed meeting of some clubs this Monday to discuss their disatisfaction and come up with a plan in going forward...

That's a good thing...at least these members are showing ownership of their sport and the willingness to act and not talk.

The other group...The Board...what are they doing? just having meetings and not saying anything to the stake holders of the sport.

The Board of the BNA needs to understand that the many decisions which they have or have not made in the name of Barbados Netball needs to be told to the members.

Too many things are not going according to plan and somebody needs to be held accountable..you know the new catch word in Barbados since elections..accountabililty, transparency and integrity.

The Bdos Umpires Association also has some questions to answer. To date it has not called its General Meeting for 2007, and the problems which surround the fixturing of umpires have multiplied to the state where it has a really bad affect on the games at the stadium.

Come on..lets put our heads together and go forward toward ensuring that this great sport gets back on track and moves forward in some tangible way.

This type of thing happens from time to time, so lets not despair , but resolve to be part of the solution and not part of the problem.
